       Journal*Browse:  What It Is

Journal*Browse is a current-awareness service developed and maintained by the Tri-County Technical College Library.  It allows you to browse the Tables of Contents of individual issues of a group of journals and then, with a click of the mouse, select desired articles for viewing or downloading.  It thus provides an effective means of keeping up with current research, issues, and trends in your areas of interest.

At present, we are offering three major kinds of listings:

  • Pedagogical journals intended to promote teaching excellence
  • Journals devoted to research on community colleges, higher education, and academic administration
  • Research journals in subject fields

An invitation:  We are constantly adding new Journal*Browse listings.  Our current efforts include the development of listings of research journals in specific areas.  We invite you to talk to us about creating a customized Journal*Browse for you, your field, or your department.

So far as we know, no other college library offers a service quite like this.  We hope that Journal*Browse will make a positive contribution to the professional development of the TCTC faculty and administrative staff.

Journal Access

Access to the Tables of Contents of individual journals is provided in three ways: through our article databases; through the library's subscription to the online version of a journal, or through a direct link to the publisher's website.

A Note about Embargoed Titles

Certain journals that are accessed through our databases do not allow viewing the full text of articles for the most recent 365 days.  In these cases we have tried to enter a separate subscription so that access to current issues is assured.  On those few occasions when embargoed articles are not available, you can still browse the tables of contents and view the article abstracts.  To obtain the full article, contact Norman Hoyle at the TCTC Library.
