Have Skills That Travel!

Remember, to get help selecting a database: go to the Databases page and note the subject areas that are listed on the left-hand side.  There are separate groupings for business databases, health/medicine databases, newspaper databases, etc.  This should help you select the most suitable database for your project.

The cross-disciplinary databases are listed at the top, in the All Disciplines category.  Here, too, you will find a general encyclopedia and a biographical database with information on hundreds of thousands of people from all time periods throughout the world.

You now know how to do a search in one database, Academic Search Premier.  But our databases come from many different producers.  So won't they all look different and have their own special features?

To a certain extent, yes.  But once you've learned the basics, it will be like driving a car you've borrowed from a friend.  You know that there's a switch to turn on the lights or the radio--you just need to locate the controls.  Even though they may look different, article databases have similar features.  Check for Help screens or ask a friendly librarian.
