Keyword Search

In a KEYWORD search, you are doing a search on each word that appears in the catalog record, whether from the title, author's name, or subject heading.  (Remember,

you are NOT searching the actual book contents.)

Use a Keyword search when you:

• are doing a preliminary search and need ideas for additional search terms
• are not sure of the precise terms used in the assigned Subject Heading
• need to combine two or more concepts
• are searching for a phrase
• want to see what is available in the library on your topic
