Catalog Description: This course emphasizes the integration of popular microcomputer software packages using advanced concepts in microcomputer applications software. Some of the advanced features of Microsoft Office software will be applied to solve typical business problems.
Entry-Level Skills: The student should have:
· A desire to learn about microcomputers and application software
· The ability to read and comprehend text, including interpreting acronyms and technical terms
· The ability to read and follow directions
· The ability to perform basic mathematical operations based on a series of incremental processes
· The ability to write using appropriate business terms, grammar, and spelling
· Basic keyboarding skills
Other entry-level skills needed include knowledge of Windows and the ability to:
· Perform basic file management functions
· Produce, edit, format, and print documents using a word processing program
· Produce, edit, format, and print worksheets using a spreadsheet program
· Produce, edit, format, and print slide presentations using a presentation graphics program

Upon satisfactory completion of CPT 270, the student should be able to: · Create and/or modify a document with specified formatting · Use Word to create a Web page that includes graphics and hyperlinks · Generate form letters and mailing labels using Mail Merge · Build valid calculations and formulas in worksheets using formulas and functions · Perform ‘What-If’ analysis · Present data with tables and charts · Generate an animated slide show · Identify and create tables with appropriate relationships · Define fields using properties and validate data appropriately · Build valid expressions and formulas in queries · Create custom forms and reports in Access |

Activity credit will be awarded for assignments and practice tests. The final grade will be calculated as follows:
