Catalog Description:
This course focuses on changes in computer technology.
Students will identify, research and apply selected emerging computer technologies. The primary method of application will be via software development.
Entry-Level Skills:
Students should have a fundamental understanding of good programming techniques.
Pre-Requisites: CPT 234
Required Materials:
Appropriate reference materials will be supplied by the instructor. Students may collect supplementary materials as required.
Course Competencies and Objectives:
Students who complete CPT 208 should be able to:
1. Recognize new and emerging technologies in the computer technology field and understand the implications and application of those technologies.
2. Perform research as appropriate to develop an understanding of the subject matter technology.
3. Design, develop and document computer programs as needed to implement subject matter technology.
4. Produce models, diagrams, presentations as appropriate to demonstrate subject matter competency in the subject matter technology.
Grade Calculation Method:
Students in CPT 208 will research specific new and emerging technologies and apply those technologies in the classroom. Consequently, much of the course will be based on class projects.

Students
must earn a minimum grade of ‘C’ in all CPT/IST courses used to fulfill
graduation requirements of a Computer and Information Technology program.
