Catalog  Description:     

This course introduces microcomputer applications software, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, graphs, and their integration. Business-oriented projects are developed using Microsoft Office software.

 

Entry Level Skills:

The student should have:

·         A desire to learn about microcomputers and application software

  • The ability to read and comprehend text, including interpreting acronyms and technical terms
  • The ability to read and follow directions
  • The ability to perform basic mathematical operations based on a series of incremental processes
  • Basic keyboarding skills

Course Competencies and

Objectives:

 

 

Upon satisfactory completion of CPT 170, the student should be able to:

·         Use (at a fundamental level) Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

·         Recognize the impact of the Internet, navigate and  search the Internet, and print Internet pages

·         Use the capabilities of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics programs in a Windows environment

·         Apply proper techniques to solve personal computer application-type problems

Microsoft PowerPoint

 

Grade Calculation Method:

 

There will be activity credit for each topic, and a test at the end of each application topic. Activity credit will be awarded for assignments and practice tests.
