v What is the process for applying for nursing at Tri-County Technical College?
 
  1. Make application to Tri-County Technical College and pay the application fee.
  2. Request that high school and college transcripts be sent to TCTC for evaluation.
  3. Take placement tests if required. See Admissions.
  4. See an advisor to determine if general education courses are required and to discuss classes.
v How do I apply for financial aid?
  Complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), preferably online. For additional information, please visit the Financial Aid Office website at             http://www.tctc.edu/prospective_students/getting_started/financial_aid/finaidhelp.html
v How can I find out about the requirements for the PN and RN programs?
  You may visit our campus for printed materials and advisor assistance, or go to our website at http://www.tctc.edu and click on Academic Web and Health Education Division.
v What type degrees do the LPN and RN programs grant?
  LPN students receive a diploma. ADN students receive an Associate Degree in Science.
v Do the nursing programs have a waiting (complete)list?
  Yes, all three programs (ADN, PN and Transition Nursing) have a waiting (complete) list. A Notice of Completion must be submitted to Admissions to be placed on a waiting list.
v Can I be on both LPN and RN waiting lists?
  Yes. See your advisor to be placed on two lists.
v I am on the complete list for Nursing. Now what do I do?
  To get a seat in the clinical portion of the program, you must submit a PN or ADN Competitive Clinical Entry Application (obtained from Academic Web or from your advisor) to Fulp 401 before the deadline.  LPN to RN Transition students submit a Notice   of Completion only.
v How often do nursing classes start?
  PN, Transition and RN programs start fall and spring of each year.
v If I do not get a seat in a class, do I apply again?
  Yes. You must submit a Competitive Clinical Entry Application for each application         period for which you’d like to be considered.  Applications are not saved and carried over    from one application period to the next.
v Is there an evening program for Nursing?
  Spring entry is geared toward afternoon and evening for PN and RN.  Transition   students have evening and afternoon classes and clinicals in fall entry.
v What should I do if I have completed all of my general education courses and still have not been selected for admission?
  You may work to improve some of the grades in these courses. You may take ACT, SAT or NET exams to earn more points. Completion of a Pre-Nursing Certificate has extra point value. An additional consideration is to complete general education courses required for a BSN (Bachelor Degree in Nursing). v Is it possible for a RN student to take the LPN licensure exam after completing the first year?
  No. The PN and RN programs at Tri-County Tech are separate.
v Is CPR required?
  Yes. CPR is required as you enter the program. And the student must keep the certification current. (CPR classes are offered in the nursing department.) You may get a certification elsewhere; it must be a Health Care Providers certification.

v Are background checks required for nursing students?
  Yes. The web address for ordering the background check will be shared at orientation.
v Will a drug test be done?
  Nursing students and AHS 117 students will participate in a drug screen each year.
