Do
I actually have to study?
Of course, but it is easier and fun when you
are surrounded by the Spanish language and
Mexican culture.
Will
I get credit?
Yes. You will earn 3 credit hours for IDS 207 Cultural Exploration (Interdepartamental Studies). It will transfer to Clemson University, University of South Carolina-Columbia, Anderson University as 3 hours of elective credit that will count towards any major. It may transfer to other universities- just let us know what university you are considering.
Who can go?
Pretty much anyone with a serious interest in learning Spanish and experiencing another culture can go. As a student, a current minimum GPA of 2.0 is required. If you are not a student, you can go without earning university credit. No Spanish background is required, but it is encouraged. There will be a pre-departure orientation to prepare you for the experience.
How
much does it cost?
About $800 for students, plus airfare and Tri-County Tuition. For non-students, the price is $1200, plus airfare. If you can´t go because of the cost, don´t let money stop you. Scholarships and Payment Plans are available, ask for more information!
What
do I get for $800?
All program fees in Cuernavaca, including Spanish grammar and conversational classes in Mexico, room and board with a Mexican family (3 meals/day, double occupancy), airport transfers in Mexico, day trips, guides, tips, entry fees, international health insurance, excursions to historical and tourist sites.

not included?

How
do I apply?

form and an unofficial copy of your transcript to Trini Tumlin. Submit two recommendation forms (one personal
and one academic) as soon as possible.
How
are students selected?
After reviewing applications and letters of
recommendation, faculty directors may conduct
interviews and will select students based
on
-
academic preparation and strength,
-
sense of maturity, responsibility, and citizenship,
- ability
to describe how study abroad experience
will apply to academic and personal goals;
and knowledge of proposed destination and
culture. Enrollment is limited to 12 students.
Faculty directors will notify students of selection by Friday,
March 27.
