A couple of things you need to know about online
courses;
1. Online courses are for those who can
motivate themselves. Remember that you need to keep up
with the reading on your own.
If a chapter is in the "course contents" then it is expected that you have
read that chapter by the time
you do your first discussion posting.
2. You must login to your course once a week.
Each instructor has the authority to withdraw you from
the course if you do not
login every week. If you must be away from a computer for more
than a week
then it is your responsibility
to contact the instructor, in advance.
3. Discussions posted by the instructor
for each week must be answered in the week they are assigned and
no later than Thursday
of that week.
You must post and respond to another student's post in order to get
full credit
for the posting.
Some instructors will grade each post and some will grade overall
participation. Either
way you are graded on
your participation, and should put sufficient time and effort into
the discussion
post.
4. Testing will be announced by the
instructor. Remember that you will ordinarily have at least four tests
so if you have not seen
a test announcement by week four then you need to let the instructor
know because
you may have missed a
test.
5. Since you are going to be taking
an online course you must do the following to be considered on the
roll. If you
fail to do any of
the following, you will be withdrawn from the course within the
drop/add period.
You must
login to WebCT no later than the second official class day.
You must
email the Instructor of the course (within WebCT) that you have read
the course syllabus and
requirements of the course, and that you are ready to begin.
You must
introduce yourself in the Week One Discussion area.
You must
go through the Criminal Justice Online Orientation (below).
6. If you decide to withdraw from
the course at any point, you must email the Instructor, and then
withdraw
via Campus
Pipeline. Failure to do this will result in an F for the
course, and will affect your cumulative GPA.
7. Remember that the only official
email communication allowed is via your Tri-County Technical College
email.
You have one by
virtue of being a student, and are responsible for checking it at
least twice a week.
Please make this an enjoyable experience for yourself
by getting off to the right foot. We are glad you are a
student
in our program, and we are here to help in any way possible.
